Looking for ways to help MEIM this winter?

It seems that a missionary's work is never done!  After talking with Garnet at our board meeting a few weeks ago, we learned that she and Lisa could use some help to get ready for the winter.  Her house at the border suffered wind damage during Hurricane Dolly and needs to be repaired before it starts leaking water into the area that she stores her supplies!  On top of that, the roof in Zaragoz

Weary from the desert

We´re bathed and ready to come home! Today on our way back to San Lois, we stopped in one of the villages where Lisa does her Kids Club. It was so awesome! Like the mountain villages, this was one of the poorest areas. The people were so grateful to have Garnet there to do clinic. She saw well over 100 patients. Lisa fed 75 kids, and there were 39 kids there who were regular Kids Club kids.

A baby is born!!

I'm so excited....Garnet just delivered a baby. And I got to go in to photograph it and assist. It was the first time I saw a baby born close up. It was so amazing, and it was an illustration that God is indeed in control and has designed the body to perform miracles. This was the mother's first child. She is 24 years old, and the father held her hand and counted with her.

The Pit

We just finished the garbage hole. Sounds easy, right? Well, it took half our group and several local kids to dig it about 5-6 feet deep. I just took a photo of the group inside the hole, but unfortunately we don't have the means to upload it! We're going to keep trying, though. We've definitely all been stretched outside our comfort zone.

Hola from Mexico

Continuing with this week´s theme, Satan has continued to mess with us! We arrived to have one of our bags end up in Florida. It would be the bag with Dan´s asthma medication and work boots in it. He´s stuck with flip-flops. Luckily, Garnet has some medical connections, so she´s going to get his medicine for him later today.

Humble Beginnings....

Did you know that Garnet did not go to Mexico to be a medical missionary?  In fact, she intended to teach classes on cooking and sewing, in the village where she and her family would be living.  Here is how it all began!

This is a story by Amy Denney, the new MEIM newsletter editor. Just thought I'd share.

Sweat grosses out some people. It doesn’t bother me.

My trial run

Hello,
I'm not sure what I'm doing yet, but I thought I'd try out the blog. Great job with the Web site Rich and Gay. I've attached (hopefully!) a gorgeous photo of Garnet with Gay from her visit here in April. I am so excited about our trip this year and some of the exciting things going on with MEIM!
